Blepharitis in dogs and cats

Canine and feline blepharitis refers to an acute or chronic inflammatory reaction of the eyelids caused by a bacterial infection in affected dogs and cats with excessive secretion of the lid glands. Blepharitis in dogs and cats is usually accompanied by symptoms of conjunctivitis and blepharitis. Prompt treatment is needed to avoid secondary infections.

Clinical signs of blepharitis in dogs and cats

The eyelid or eyelid margin is irritated by mechanical or chemical factors, and there is an exuberant secretion of sebaceous and palpebral glands at the eyelid margin, along with bacterial or fungal infections. Whereas bacterial infections tend to predominate clinically, in the acute phase, the lid margins and surrounding eyelids are congested, swollen, with yellow scabs forming, and small pustules at the base of the eyelashes are exposed when the scabs are peeled off. Inflammation spreads to the conjunctiva and glands of the lid, the eyelid conjunctiva is congested and edematous, and there may be grayish-yellow pustules the size of small grains of rice on the conjunctival surface of the face margin, and purulent discharge from the inner corner of the eye. When it becomes chronic, the eyelid margins are eroded or ulcerated, eyelashes are lost, the eyelid margins are thickened and deformed, ectropion or exotropion, eyelashes are disorganized, and tears overflow.

2, Complex vitamin B solution, help eye conjunctiva repair, provide nutrition to the eyes, brighten and brighten the eyes. Use 2 times daily for 1-2 weeks.

3. Cotrimoxazole can be used against more severe ocular inflammation in dogs and cats, including secondary conjunctivitis and facial plate adenitis, 1-2 times/day, 2-3 drops each time.

4, Oral Vipda Amoxicillin Powder for systemic anti-inflammatory and anti-infective, to relieve the inflammatory reaction of the eye. Once a day for 3-5 days.

5. Try to go to the pet hospital for the eye cleaning operation to avoid careless operation and serious injury to the eyes of the affected dogs and cats because of their lack of skill.
