canine coronavirus

Canine Coronavirus is one of the common infectious viruses in dogs. Healthy dogs can be infected with Canine Coronavirus through the saliva, feces, and contaminated food of sick dogs. Infection with the virus usually results in vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite, similar to the symptoms of canine distemper, but canine coronavirus is more likely to recur.

Clinical signs of canine coronavirus

Canine coronavirus infection is a disease in which a canine coronavirus causes symptoms of gastroenteritis in dogs. Sick dogs and carrier dogs are the main source of infection of this disease. The disease spreads rapidly and can spread throughout the population within a few days. Natural cases have an incubation period of 1-3 days. Sick dogs are lethargic, weak, anorexic, initially vomiting lasting several days is seen, then diarrhea begins, feces are porridge-like or watery, yellowish-green or orange-red, foul-smelling, mixed with varying amounts of mucus, and occasionally a small amount of blood can be seen in the feces, which is clinically difficult to differentiate from canine microvirus, except that it is a much longer infection with intermittent episodes, which can be recurring. There is a slight decrease in the white blood cell count, and recovery usually occurs within 7 to 10 days.
